Chiaravalle della Colomba (Alseno) – Cistercian Abbey

The Abbey is included in the two Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe: “Via Francigena” and “Route Européenne des Abbayes Cicterciennes”. The name “the Dove” is due to a legend that tells how the perimeter of the monastery was indicated to the monks by a white dove.

Chiaravalle della Colomba (Alseno) – Cistercian Abbey

Just 7 km from the Cathedral of Fidenza, in Alseno, in the piacentine plain , stands the Abbey of Chiaravalle della Dove, founded by St. Bernard in 1135. In addition to its typical architecture, the Abbey is famous for its Infiorata of the Corpus Christi. It takes place every year in the May-June period, when a wonderful flower carpet is set up along the central nave of the basilica. For more information chiaravalledellacolomba.it
