Vigoleno (Vernasca) – The Medieval Borgo
The Borgo of Vigoleno is a perfect example of the residential logic of the Middle Ages. From the main square, where there is the sixteenth-century fountain, going eastwards you reach the Romanesque church of San Giorgio, of the second half of the twelfth century. The village stands out for the integrity of the defensive system: imposing crenellated walls, crossed in part by a panoramic patrol walkway. The Mastio stands out, with four floors of visit.
How to get there
Exit Salsomaggiore Terme following the signs for Fiorenzuola/Piacenza, cross the hamlet of Scipione Ponte (SP109) and Scipione Passeri, continue towards Vigoleno (SP56).
