The greatest expression of thermal Déco style in Salsomaggiore Terme is represented by the artisitic talent of the Italian painter Galileo Chini (1873-1956) and Thermae Berzieri palace.

Inside the marvelous palace Thermae Lorenzo Berzieri, a special permanent exhibition dedicated to the rare collection of prestigious artistic pottery by “Chini Furnaces” from Borgo San Lorenzo (Florence) is exposed.

The special art exhibition shows a selection of Chini’s precious potteries realized and  being part of the dècor and furnitures of the monumental palace, one of the most impressive thermal building in Europe. A museum inside a museum, an astonishing site that will enchant for its rare beauty and splendour, a unique and one-of-a-kind piece of Italian art.

Terme Berzieri realized in the period from 1912 to 1923, were designed by Tuscan architects Ugo Giusti and Giulio Bernardini while the nternationally acclaimed painter and decorative artist Galileo Chini was entrusted with the building’s decorative features, which reveal elements clearly borrowed from oriental culture testifying to Chini’s experiences in the Orient precisely in Bangkok (Thailand). From 1910 to 1914, the Florentine artist, worked at the royal court where he frescoed the throne room. Then, back to Italy he started a new project working on the Berzieri edifice.
